“Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.” 1 John 4:17
“Because as he is, so are we in this world.” The New Living Translations says, “Because we are like Christ here in this world.” Christians are suppose to be like Christ in this world. This means that if He is loving, kind, merciful, compassionate, peaceful, then we are suppose to be loving, kind, merciful, compassionate, and peaceful here on earth. Why? So that others will see a true picture of who Christ is. Our lives are to be a mirror image of who He is in this world. He is in the restoring business- we should be too. He delights in showing mercy- so should we. People are important to Him- they should be to us also. He takes time to listen to us- we ought to take time to listen to others as well. Whatever we see Him do, we should do also. When Phillip asked Jesus to show them the Father, He replied that when they saw Him they had seen the Father. Why? Because Jesus only did those things that He saw His Father do. Therefore, He was a true representation of who the Father is.
This world needs to see who Jesus really is, and the only way they are going to see Him is through us, and only then if we are “as He is in this world.”
Have a blessed day. Are you living your life like His so that they may see who He is?
