Today’s blog is an appeal of sorts. Julie Cosgrove and I, the two principal bloggers on this site, have begun to question whether we should continue writing for this blog, or at least, at the same frequency. I hope I can say this without sounding like a whiner, but we rarely get comments from our readers. What we do get are lots of spam from people trying to sell their wares.
Everyone in ministry is there because they want to serve God, but at the same time, nearly everyone in ministry wants to know they are making a difference for God’s kingdom. Those who are out there on the front lines for the victims of Hurricane Sandy get to see the smiles or feel the embrace of the people they are helping. Sunday School teachers get to watch the understanding dawning in their students’ eyes when a Biblical concept is explained to them. Food Bank volunteers get to hear a grateful, “Thank you so much!” from people who take precious food home in bags.
But those who write blogs and send them into cyberspace don’t get that same kind of reaction. We have no idea who is reading or if anyone is reading at all…unless we hear from you. And like you, we have busy lives, and so we wonder…what’s the best use of our time? Julie has been commissioned with writing some commentaries–praise God–and she also writes for another blog or two. I am a professional writer as well as a mom. So “The Christian Woman” has been a labor of love, not only on Julie’s and my part, but also Carrie’s part–the owner of this website. Although she has a full-time job, she laboriously redesigned this website a few months ago.
So here’s my appeal…if you are reading The Christian Woman blog, if it’s making a difference in your life, if you want it to remain at the same frequency…3-4 times per week, please let us know. Let your voice be heard, because we need to hear it. And not just today, but occasionally, whenever something we write strikes a chord, helps you to see scripture in a different light, or draws you closer to our Lord.
Thanks.
