Three 6’s in a row is the common symbol for the devil. It comes from an image John saw in Revelation. But, today I literally saw the reverse of that pop up on my cell phone. I have an app that gives me a Bible verse each day, and this one was from Psalm 99:9 –
Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his holy mountain; for the Lord our God is holy.
That is how we can flip around any negative influences that the evil one tries to whisper in our ears. We must exalt the Lord our God in all things, in all circumstances, no matter what. If we truly believe He is omnipotent, almighty and in control, then it follows that He is present in our lives to help guide us in right decisions, right action and right thoughts. Whatever happens is not out of His grasp, and He can turn evil into good. With God’s help, so can we.
Paul tells the Romans – Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (12:21) By acknowledging that God is holy and worshiping Him, we flip Satan’s power and render Him impotent to God’s omnipotence. Voices lifted on high send him scurrying. The name of Jesus on our lips and in our thoughts make him cower and shrivel into powerlessness.
So, the next time that little red, horned guy with a pitchfork seems to be sitting on your shoulder whispering in your heart’s ear, proclaim God as Holy and Jesus as Lord. As the famous hymn A Mighty Fortress is Our God says, “one little word will fell him”. Flip it around to victory through worship and exalt God as Lord of your life.
