“For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place and you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14
A call is going out to the children of God to stand up and speak up for God’s view of marriage. After President Barack Obama declared that he now accepts same-sex marriage, a torrent of response has resulted, from both sides. But it seems like the applause from the gays is more deafening than the roar of feet hitting the floor from those who know the word of God, and believe in it.
As Christians, we cannot be lukewarm in our response to this. We cannot waffle. We cannot shuffle our feet and avoid eye contact. We must be hot–not in anger, but in fervency. Remember what Jesus said:
“I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I would that you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.” Revelation 3:15-16
Jesus wants us to stand up. He wants us to draw ourselves out of our complacency, a complacency that expects others to take a stand and speak out. So many of us are asleep…we’re like the foolish virgins who went to sleep while the bridegroom was at the very door. We’ve become lulled by the piper–Satan–who plays a lilting tune with lyrics like, “It’s no big deal. Let’s everyone get along together. Same-sex marriage isn’t hurting you, so why would you oppose it? Everybody has a right to love whom they love, and marry whom they choose…”
But if we could draw back the spiritual curtain, we would see a war going on in the heavenlies. God and His angels are going head to head against the devil and his hideous army. There is nothing sanguine about what’s going on in our world today. Same-sex marriage is vile and an abomination. In God’s eyes, there is no middle ground:
“You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.” Leviticus 18:22
Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate [effeminate by perversion], nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God. 1 Corinthians 6:10-11
The above scripture from 1 Corinthians states that those who die as fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, effeminate [by perversion], homosexuals, etc., without having turned to Jesus to be washed and cleansed from sin, will not enter the kingdom of heaven. But those who acknowledge their sin and go to Jesus to be washed and cleansed either through baptism or by faith, and then sanctified and justified, will enter the kingdom. Those who commit these sins require washing, sanctification and justification, or they will not enter the kingdom of heaven. There is no middle ground!
God is calling us to stand up and declare to the world what His word says. It has not changed; it will not change. Not with the times. Not with political correctness. Not when the homosexuals try to pick and choose what they want from God’s word. It is there in black and white; in the Old Testament and the New Testament.
We must wake up. We must speak out, because much of the world doesn’t even open their Bibles, and they are subsequently destroyed for lack of knowledge:
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
Because you have rejected knowledge,
I also will reject you from being my priest.
Since you have forgotten the law of your God,
I also will forget your children. Hosea 4:6
We must be the voice crying in the wilderness. If you are a writer, write about what God says in regard to homosexuality. If you are a teacher, teach what God says. You have a voice in your world, so speak. Also contact your senators and representatives. See this article.
Arise then, and join the battle. It’s going on around you, and God expects you to join. Fall in behind Jesus, our leader and victor. Brandish your sword, the sword of the Spirit–the word of God. We are not battling against the homosexuals themselves, for we are to love them, but against the principalities, the army of Satan. Whatever you do, don’t stand on the sidelines. For you were born for such a time as this.
