When I go on websites to become a member, I have to set up passwords and User IDs. Then, I get a pop up window that asks if I would like the computer to remember me. That way, every time I go to the website again, I don’t have to rack my brain or hunt down the list of all the websites and all the individual ways I have set up to enter them. I just click , the computer does its thing, and I get a “welcome Julie” on the top banner. Easy.
Today is Maundy Thursday- the day Jesus celebrated Passover’s Seder with his disciples, but with a twist. He became the Lamb whose blood was to be shed. The bread and wine became symbols of His body and blood. As He performed the 1400 year old old ritual that had been done in memory of the night God saved His people from the slavery of Egypt, He was preparing to provide a way to save us from the slavery of sin.
That night He asked that whenever his followers broke bread (communed) that they would remember Him. Now, in Heaven, if we choose to have Him in control of our lives, He remembers us. Because of His death and resurrection, He has already set up the user ID and the password for us, so we can always come to Him in prayer and commune with Him and each other. His body was broken for that purpose.
It is a two way street. We must remmeber to include Him in our daily lives. It is up to us to click onto His site by accepting Him as Savior. After that, immediate access is granted. He remembers us and welcomes us.
