Today is special. We gather with friends and family around huge tables full of food. It is a day to be thankful for the abundance we have.
This is the day we should be asking God to our table to sup with us. Of course, at every meal we should be grateful for His blessings and thank Him for our food. But let’s remember He invited us first.
The kingdom of God is like a banquet the king gave for his son . . .”Go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.” Matthew 22:2,9
In the Upper Room Jesus gave a special banquet for his disciples and followers – He served them by washing their feet, then He served them Himself represented in the bread and wine. He asked that each time they gathered together to eat and drink they would do so in His memory.
Michael Card sings to come to the table He has prepared for us. He calls it the bread of forgiveness and the wine of release from sins. Christ died so we can boldly approach the throne of the God and sit at His table, feasting on His mercy and grace.
Today, lift up your hearts in thanksgiving. Because Christ hung on the cross, God is at your table!

Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? 1 Corinthians 10:16
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6
I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving. Psalm 69:30
