If there ever was a crooked and perverse nation, we are living in one. Just look around and watch as so many people (both young and old) impose their evil deeds on anyone and everyone without regret or without conscience.
If there was ever a time when our light should shine, it is now. Light shines the brightest in the midst of the greatest darkness. As darkness surrounds us, we must take care to nurture our relationship with the Lord as the children of God, being found blameless and harmless only because of the shed blood of Jesus Christ our Lord. But it is by His blood that we can shine as beacons in the darkest night.
“That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world” (Philippians 2:15)
How is your light? Is it burning bright with fervent heat or is it a tender flicker that will go out with the slightest opposition?
Today is the day to make a commitment to yourself and to the Lord to allow your light to shine brightly so as to let the whole world know that Jesus is Lord. He alone deserves all the glory and honor for it is His light that shines brightly in those who are blameless in His sight.
Father, being one of Your children is indeed a privilege that carries with it an awesome responsibility to let Your light shine even in the midst of the darkest night, the fiercest trials, and the greatest opposition. Lord, shine through me and let the world know of Your steadfast love, Your boundless mercy, and Your abiding presence with those who are called by Your name. Amen.
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)
