Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways! You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you Psalm 128:1-2
I have been in situations where I was not sure I was going to make it through in one piece. If God had not been by my side, I know I wouldn’t have. We all have our trials and sorrows in life. Life can be very hard, unfair and cruel. things happen to us that are beyond our control- but they are not beyond God’s. Those are the time we need to grab His hand and walk so close to Him that like a small child we are matching His steps. Walking in His ways. Not always an easy thing for me to do.
Paul says in Philippians 4:13 that he can do all things because Christ gives him the strength. We are told God will never gives us more than we can handle. But here is a truth I have learned the long hard way – I can give myself too much to handle. When I worry and fret, trying to resolve the unresolvable with my own hands and my own brain, the fruits of my labor never ripen. They go straight to rot, mush between my fingers. Then He taps me on the shoulder, reaches out His hand and quietly asks, “Why did you let go?” Again I walk in His ways and the pieces begin to fit together again. The world doesn’t fall apart around my ears. He picks up the pieces, glues it all together with His grace and leads me on. All may not be well with the world, but it finally is with me – Again.
Question– who are you trusting in today to handle the hard (and the good) that comes as you walk down life’s road? Is your labor in vain?
