“Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations.” Psalm 145:13
That’s a comforting thought. Today, life is such a rush. Iinformation assaults us from all sides, instantly with a click of the mouse. In fact, “too much information” has become a slang phrase. We live in a world of constant change. Yesterday is not just gone, it is already passe. We fill our live with busy-ness, doing all things now instead have the luxury of taking the time and patience to do one thing well.
In contrast, God, the original multi-tasker, who knows all and is all, remains constant. He endures from generation to generation. His promises never alter. His love never wavers. If there was any other time in the history of the world that mankind needed a solid, immovable rock to hold onto, this is it. And God knows that.
He asks us to slow down and listen to Him. He makes us wait for what we pray for in order to teach us patience, obedience and trust. He reminds us that His ways are not our ways and His timing is perfect. In the midst of the onslaught of information and cyberspace, He offers an enduring peace. In the middle of the swirl of cultural madness, He is the eye in the storm, the center of perfect calm. I think it is our glimpse of Heaven.
Dear Lord, today with all that I need to do and all that is demanded of me, let me stop and bask in Your gift of peace. Let me daily find time to be alone with you, to renew my inner strength, get corrections for my course, and comfort for the wounds I have incurred. Give me time to pray for others that they may find the time to seek You as well. Open my soul to receive your enduring peace. I pray this through Your Son who taught us to seek You first in all things. Amen.
“Be still, and know that I am God…” Psalm 46:10
