“Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.” Psalm 90:14
Been a little down lately? Has the pressures of life or disappointment or hurt clouded your days? The mornings that you do not even feel like getting out of bed, as you pull the covers back over your face, remember this verse. Not being “Morning person” myself, it takes me about ten minutes before I can say hello to God, much less anyone else. But when I do, and feel His love, the day just goes better.
I learned a long time ago that the remedy for being down in the dumps is two fold – stop the pity party and go do something for someone else. God’s wisdom through this Psalm relfects that. When we look to Him for our joy and use our hands to serve Him through helping others as He commands, our focus changes, doesn’t it. We fade into the background along with our troubles and sorrows. Yes, there is a time to mourn and a time to weep, just not all the time. If you find yourself in a slump, realize you are a loved child of God and then get out and find something to do for someone else to spread the love He has for you. Use your hands for God as He shows you, and you will find yourself singing all the way. Joy is an attitude that springs from His love and our doing.
Dear Lord, Daily remind me of Your love so I can start each day off right, singing in my heart and listening to Your voice. I praise You for always loving me even the days I do not love myself. Keep me away from moodiness that closes the world in on me. Through prayer and Your Word, renew my spirit so that I may be Your hands and go forth to do Your will. I pray this through Your Son who gave all for me. Amen.
“May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us – yes, establish the work of our hands.” Psalm 90:17
