About The Master's Business Ministry

"But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." 1 Corinthians 2:14

I was flipping through the channels on the television this evening- I stopped at the History channel because my husband likes to watch it. The show was already in progress so the first thing I heard was a clergy making the statement that the Bible is full of accounts of people being abducted by aliens. (WHAT!?- naturally, that was my first reaction.) I could not believe what I was hearing. (That had to take first place in stupidity.) They tried to say that when Elijah was caught up in a chariot of fire, it was an abduction. (It may have been an "abduction" of sorts but not by some "unidentified flying object"- it was a God translation.)

I remember several years ago when the movie about Noah came out. (I never did see it but I heard plenty about it.) I was witnessing to a guy right after that (obviously he was not a Christian) and he started talking about that movie. I am so glad I had the opportunity to clear up the misconceptions that it was causing. There were those who watched it that did not have a clue that it was a gross misrepresentation of Biblical events. The reason I brought this up is because it is surprising at the number of people who get their Bible knowledge from television and movies. You can't afford to let "Hollywood" teach you the Bible. As a matter of fact, you can't afford to get your sole understanding of the Bible from other people (including your pastor). You have to study it for yourself. Paul commended the Berean people for not just accepting everything they heard but for searching it out for themselves to see if what they heard was true or not.

The world cannot understand, nor explain, things that are spiritually discerned so if you are letting them teach you through their movies, documentaries, programs, and songs- you are not going to have the "truth". You will have man's interpretation (and that based on his own beliefs). Study the word for yourself. Ask the Holy Spirit, who is the Teacher, to give you understanding and insight of His word. And don't take everyone else's opinion of what it means.
