Inseparable
By Julie B Cosgrove | 2 Comments
Romans 8:38-39 has always made my heart soar – nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus Not life, nor death, principalities, angels or rulers, powers . . . but, then it gets more personal.
Nothing today or yet to come. . . What a comforting thought, isn’t it? No matter what happens to me today, or whatever I fear may happen tomorrow, Christ will be right beside me. He knows all and sees all I am tunnel visioned and focused on the now, or shutting my eyes to tomorrow. And though it is not stated, nothing in the past can either, if I have laid it at His feet.

Until We Proclaim
By Julie B Cosgrove | 1 Comment
O God, from my youth you have taught me,
and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds.
So even to old age and gray hairs,
O God, do not forsake me,
until I proclaim your might to another generation,
your power to all those to come. Psalm 72:17-18

Words to Live By
By Julie B Cosgrove | Comments Off
Remember your word to your servant, in which you have made me hope. This is my comfort in my affliction, that your promise gives me life Psalm 119:49-50
While helping a friend pack moving boxes, I noticed in a drawer all of these cards – birthday, anniversary, get well. Some were crayon scribbled, some professionally printed, some with poems, some with humor. She smiled and said she never throws away a card. When she gets down in the dumps, she pulls them out and remembers how much she means to friends and family and how much they mean to her. She recalls the good and the bad, and that through all the tears and smiles she was not alone.

Meshed Emotions
By Julie B Cosgrove | Comments Off
So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Matthew 28:8
Two opposite emotions meshed into one – fear and great joy.
Have you ever witnessed a miracle? If you have, then you understand how these two feelings can well up inside you and press against your chest so hard it makes your heart ache. You have unexplainable joy that a prayer has been answered, even the one prayed deep within you that you could just not express in words. It is the joy of a child getting his or her fondest Christmas wish times a hundred fold. It really takes your breath away and brings tears gushing.

Joyful Clamor
By Julie B Cosgrove | Comments Off
Psalm 100:1 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord all ye earth…
As a person who cannot carry a tune in a bucket, I embrace this verse as my motto. God, in His infinite wisdom and humor created me as a lover of music. I worship through music. Nothing makes my heart and soul soar to Heaven like a good hymn. Yet I am musically challenged. The best I can do is play the radio and frogs croak out tunes better than I do.

Handel’s Messiah
By Jan Ross | Comments Off
“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” (Matthew 1:23)
One of the most majestic and anointed musical compositions of all times was written by George Frideric Handel in the 1700’s. One writer (1) stated, “As it turns out, The Messiah is either a Bible study with a beautiful concert attached, or a wonderful piece of classical music with a free Bible study included at no extra charge. I can’t decide which. I do remember reading that when Handel was alive, the Messiah was one of the most often performed pieces of music in concert, and that Handel gave away most of the profits obtained from his concerts to support orphaned children.”

Shining Face
By Julie B Cosgrove | Comments Off
Psalm 67:1 – May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us . . .
I remember one of my mother’s favorite saying was, “How I love to see your shining face.” When faces shine they are elated, full of joy and love and anticipation. Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow are the words in a familiar carol that describes children waiting for Christmas.
