When God Gets in Your Stuff
By Gwenn McKone | 4 Comments
About a month ago, I joined Facebook, and I’m still not sure why. I had managed to avoid the trend, even though I’ve received several invitations to become someone’s friend on Facebook for the past year or so. Little did I know when I finally gave in to Facebook that I would be opening Pandora’s box.
Suddenly I was contacted by old childhood schoolmates, some of whom I barely remember, and others that don’t even ring a bell at all. (Their married names didn’t help much, either.) Then, a few weeks ago, a name popped onto my screen that I’d hoped never to see again. She asked to be my friend, and I wondered why.

Handel’s Messiah
By Jan Ross | Comments Off
“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” (Matthew 1:23)
One of the most majestic and anointed musical compositions of all times was written by George Frideric Handel in the 1700’s. One writer (1) stated, “As it turns out, The Messiah is either a Bible study with a beautiful concert attached, or a wonderful piece of classical music with a free Bible study included at no extra charge. I can’t decide which. I do remember reading that when Handel was alive, the Messiah was one of the most often performed pieces of music in concert, and that Handel gave away most of the profits obtained from his concerts to support orphaned children.”

In the lyrics of “Hark, the Herald Angels Sing” Charles Wesley profoundly presented the awesome revelation of the Reason for this Season . . . the Son of Righteousness! Take a moment to read through the lyrics:

Faith Of Our Fathers

I love the traditional songs of Thanksgiving and am sharing some with you today. It matters not whether you celebrate Thanksgiving Day where you live, what matters is the heart of the worshipper who hastens to make known God’s manifest blessings to all who will hear! Take the time to read the words penned by Frederick W. Farber centuries ago and join in the chorus proclaiming your faith in this hymn of thankfulness . . .
Faith of Our Fathers
Lyrics Frederick W. Farber, 1814-1863

What Motivates You?
By Jan Ross | Comments Off
My heart is full—overwhelmed would be a more accurate word. There is little hope I will ever be able to articulate every detail, let alone absorb everything I’ve heard and witnessed these past two weeks to my own personal satisfaction. But nonetheless, I want to attempt to share a few thoughts with you which have been weighing heavily on my heart.

Bring the Oppressed
By Julie B Cosgrove | Comments Off
Then a demon-oppressed man who was blind and mute was brought to him, and he healed him, so that the man spoke and saw. And all the people were amazed, and said, “Can this be the Son of David?” Matthew 12:22-23
Jesus’ healings seem to always come with a lesson. Then and now The man was demon-oppressed. Not that every blind or mute person is. But he was. Jesus saw the cause of his affliction and knew what it would take to heal him. Jesus had the power.
