A dear friend of my son’s has been missing for two weeks. He was last seen in downtown Chicago. Bobby Villarreal is a father and runs his own business. He is probably one of thousands for whom family and friends are searching today in the US, perhaps tens of thousands that are lost or whose whereabouts are unknown throughout the world.

Psalm 35:5-6 Let them be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the Lord driving them away!
Let their way be dark and slippery, with the angel of the Lord pursuing them!
In the Psalms, David often cried out to God to smite his enemies. I am sure that is his intent here in Psalm 35. But as a dear loved one of mine who has yet to accept Christ as her Savior lies dying in a hospital far away, this verse has taken on a new meaning for me.

Drawing From the Well

The prophet Isaiah said, “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation” (Isaiah 12:2-3).
If God is truly our salvation, we must trust, and not be afraid that the God we trust in will fail us. Is the Lord Jehovah our salvation? Then he will be our strength and our song. He surely will strengthen us with all might by His Spirit for He is our strength. We can depend upon him to comfort us in all our tribulations for He is our song! He will put a song in our hearts even in the darkest hours we walk through.

White As Snow

“Come now, let us reason together,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. Isaiah 1:18
Yesterday we had a snowstorm in Texas- that is a once in the lifetime rarity. Over 10 inches. This morning I woke up to a gorgeous site. Those of you who live in the snowy north, pardon my gushing! The tree limbs were coated in fluffy white, outlined so vividly. It enhanced their graceful beauty more than the Spring leaves ever will. The ground was blanketed in pristine white, covering all the things under it, including the dead brown grass and the dandelion weeds that had decided to pop up in droves after a good few weeks of rain.

Have you ever asked that? I must admit I have. There are times I can feel God so close it is as if He is breathing on the apple of my cheek. I can almost sense His strong all encompassing arms wrapping around me in love and protection. It is easy then to offer tearful praises. But, then there are the other times . . .
