Your Child’s Mission?
By Julie B Cosgrove | Comments Off
And Manoah said, “Now when your words come true, what is to be the child’s manner of life, and what is his mission?” Judges 13:12
What parent has not asked that question a hundred times? Whispered it as they stroked a peach fuzz head sleeping soundly in a crib, while waving good-bye when they step on the school bus, while clapping when they receive a high school diploma, or while watching them stroll into their dorm from your rear view mirror as you drive away. Perhaps it is a the prayer of your heart when the police knock on your door at 2 am, or they come and tell you they are getting a divorce , or have lost yet another job.

Afflicting Attitudes
By Julie B Cosgrove | Comments Off
Psalm 119: 50 This is my comfort in my affliction, that your promise gives me life.
What a wonderful attitude, right? In the midst of whatever we go through in life, whether it is physical illness, the worry over a loved one’s plight, or mental distress, we can take comfort that we believe in a God who keeps His promises. What promises? Well, to review just a few from the Bible -
He promised through Noah and the rainbow that He’d never destroy the earth in flood- God promises to keep His promises.

God’s Divine Order
By Jan Ross | Comments Off
Note: Please CLICK HERE for updates on Heart of God Haiti and learn how you can pray specifically for the urgent needs of our team on the ground.
Draw nigh to God, put our trust in the Lord that we may declare His works.
God’s divine order would have it that we first and foremost cultivate our relationship with Him, for without it there is no foundation for trust and there is no passion for the testimony of His works. It is a good thing for man to carefully pursue and secure a relationship with God, above all things. As God draws near to us, we must run to meet Him, thus drawing near to Him. It is not only our duty; it should be our desire to have an ongoing and ongrowing relationship with Him.

Lend a Hand

Psalm 16:8-9 I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure.

Away in a Manger
By Jan Ross | Comments Off
“And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.” (Luke 2:7)
Probably one of the first songs little children are taught during this season is “Away in a Manger”. I can remember as a little girl singing this with my class in front of the entire church, each of us stepping out of the choir to say our verse while we recited the entire account of the birth of the Lord Jesus from the Gospel of Luke. It was something we looked forward to each year, singing the sweet lullaby about Baby Jesus and saying our memory verses.

Don’t Hide It from your Kids
By Julie B Cosgrove | Comments Off
We will not hide them from their children,
but tell to the coming generation
the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might,
and the wonders that he has done. Psalm 78:4
When was the last time you witnessed to your child? It doesn’t matter if they are two or forty-two, they still need to hear how wonderful this God you worhisp is; how He sustains you and protects you and blesses your life. Most of all how He loves you and forgives you.

Incredible Portrait
By Jan Ross | Comments Off
Every time I read the story of the prodigal son, I’m reduced me to tears. As a parent, this gives me hope beyond measure. This son had squandered everything his father had given him; he spent all his inheritance and partied until there was no partying left. But the depth of the father’s love was untouched by the son’s sin. He welcomed him home with arms opened wide.
“And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.“ (Luke 15:20)
