I Prayed for This Child
By Julie B Cosgrove | 1 Comment
“I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him over to the Lord.” 1 Samuel 1:28
This was how Hannah dedicated her son Samuel to the priest Eli at the Temple. Samuel ended up being one of the greats in the Old Testament – one of the few who walked with God.

Teach Your Children Well
By Julie B Cosgrove | Comments Off
“…so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands.“ Psalm 78: 6-7
Psalm 78 is a great Psalm- it is a summation of the Exodus, how God saved his people and led them through Moses out of slavery in Egypt. But it is also very truthful. It tells of the wilderness journey and how the people turned from God in spite of His miraculous works. It tells how He blessed them with the land of promise and they still turned against him. It tells of how the Lord gave them David to rule over them. Basically, it tells the story of God’s constant reaching out to His people.

True wealth
By Julie B Cosgrove | Comments Off
“You still the hunger of those you cherish; their sons have plenty, and they store up wealth for their children.” Psalm 17:14
We all want the best for our kids. That’s natural. We want them to be healthy and strong, to be smart and have lots of friends. We want them to have security, to give them their heart’s desires and for them to grow up and become professionals who will make a decent living.

Iron and Clay- which will your child be?
By Julie B Cosgrove | 1 Comment
Iron and Clay
“So this will be a divided kingdom; yet it will have some strength of iron in it…partly iron and partly clay, so the kingdom will be partly strong and partly brittle…so the people will be a mixture and will not remain united any nor than iron mixes with clay.” Daniel 2:41-43

Teenage Drama

Sometimes I’m not as thankful as I should be for my children. I confess. God always shows me so gently that while my heart was in the right place, I should have handled such and such situation this way. Then He shows me where I went wrong. It’s not to bring about guilt because God doesn’t use that tactic. He allows me the beautiful freedom of making of making my own choices (even if they aren’t in His perfect will) and He still loves me. He waits patiently for me to make this mistake and come to Him so He can show me where I went wrong.
