Broken
By Julie B Cosgrove | 4 Comments
Have you ever sat in church and one word keeps standing out as if highlighted with a celestial marker? Today, for me it was broken.
My pastor spoke on Jeremiah 31 where God says even though man had broken covenants with Him time and again, He was going to bring forth a new covenant. My pastor said the only way the outcome would be different was if God made that new covenant through the Son of Man – Jesus who would by His sinless nature, never break it.

Too Busy for God?
By Julie B Cosgrove | 1 Comment
Too busy for God? Well, of course I’m not. But, yet I have to admit, I really have been as of late. It has been like living inside a whirlwind launching two books in two months as well as writing full time as a freelance writer, plus traveling to speak and market my books, plus planning a conference for the women of my church. All are blessings from God - I know that. And, whenever I catch my breath, I shoot a thank you prayer to Him.

Down and Back Up
By Julie B Cosgrove | 4 Comments
Life is filled with new journeys. Some are paths we’d rather not go down. The unknown can be scary because it is, well the unknown. We get comfortable with the way things are. Even if these things are not wonderful- they are what we know. God understands. I know because tucked in Genesis is an example of His tenderness.

Cast Off
By Julie B Cosgrove | Comments Off
Psalm 74 starts off with a prayer – Oh God, why have you cast us off forever?
Ever feel that way? It is s comfort that David, the man close to God’s heart, did. But that prayer got me to thinking.
Have you ever had a cast on your arm or your leg? Do you remember what it felt like when they took it off? Strange, right? It felt unnatural, so light. Your skin was probably a bit discolored. And there might have been a deep ache now that that bone was not so tightly supported. You might have needed physical therapy or exercises to re-strengthen your muscles and tendons.

Folllow at a Distance
By Julie B Cosgrove | 1 Comment
And Peter had followed him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest. And he was sitting with the guards and warming himself at the fire. (Mark 14:54)
Peter is like so many people. They will follow Christ at a distance. Perhaps they enter into church life on Sundays. But, they will not fully commit to following Him the rest of the week. Like Peter, they stand on the edges warming themselves with the fire of the Holy Spirit, being careful not to risk getting singed in the process. They definitely do not want to stand out in the crowd and appear to be over religious—a Jesus freak. Nope, just blend in. It is safer. Your religion is your business.

The Harder Healing
By Julie B Cosgrove | Comments Off
Recently in church we read the story, in the Gospel of Mark, Chapter 2, of the paralytic whose friends cut a hole in the roof for him to be lowered into the room where Jesus was speaking. Jesus tells him his sins are forgiven, then when there is grumbling about under whose authority Jesus could state that, he asks which is easier – to heal the man physically or spiritually. The paralytic receives both.

Spiritual Sniffles
By Julie B Cosgrove | 1 Comment
Yep – I am still sick. But I have had several good days of vegging out, praying and relaxing (in between coughing spells). Of course, God has again showed me a spiritual connection.
Not to get too gross, but when a virus invades our bodies, our white blood cells rush to to rescue, try to smother it and then tells our body to expel it in a cough or a sneeze. If it is a stubborn virus, all of this action inside of us may cause a fever. We do nothing to cause all of this to happen. Our bodies automatically are designed to fight off infections. However, it is good to push fluids to help the process along, and try to eat the right foods, take Vitamin C, etc right?
