Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places . . . Ephesians 1:3
Can you wrap your mind around that statement? We have already been blessed with every spiritual blessing.
When my husband passed away, I was given a certain amount of money from his life insurance policy. Since our insurance company has their own bank, I was also given a book of checks I could use so I could dip into that money reserve in case of need. It is a comfort that I have a bit of financial security in reserve just in case the need arises.Though I can never receive any more money from the life insurance, I know what I have is there whenever I need it.
How much better is my account with God who knows all, sees all, and to Him today and twenty years from now are all in view. God has placed every blessing He will bestow on me in my lifetime in a special reserve. I have an endless supply from Him. All I need to do is turn to Him and He will supply them at the right moment I need them. It has already been put in my heavenly bank waiting for me to withdraw it as needed. Christ has supplied the checkbook through His sacrifice on the cross.
How often do we ignore the blessings God so willing has for us because we are too busy trying to solve our own issues instead of turning to Him? Or perhaps we just can’t see the blessings He is offering because of our negativity and lack of faith? It is there, waiting. But we have to write out the withdrawal slip or the check. That means acknowledging that we need God’s help. It means abandoning the I can do it myself attitude and looking to the source who can provide . It also means trusting what is provided is exactly what you need right then and there.
His mercies are new every morning, Scripture says. So are His blessings. How many will you withdraw today?
