Clean Hands
By Julie B Cosgrove | Comments Off
I wash my hands in innocence and go around your altar, O Lord Psalm 26:6
I grew up as a tomboy. I wish I had a dollar for each time my mother called out when she heard me coming in as I banged the screen door, “Julie, go wash your hands.” I’d be retired by now and lounging on a Carribean island! I hated to take the time to wash my hands. What as a little dirt? She’d cluck her teeth and say, “Clean hands make a clean heart.” Sure enough, when it was time for me to be the mother of a little boy who liked to be outside, I became just like her, calling out each time he came in the house, “Go wash your hands.”

What a Day That Will Be
By Jan Ross | Comments Off
“So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.” (Hebrews 9:28)
Allow the depth of this verse to sink in. Jesus died, not for his own sins, but for yours and mine. His punishment was unearned by him, but yet he stood in our place and received the very thing that was meant for us. He became sin so that we could have life. And as if that wasn’t enough, he died one time for all of us. His sacrifice never had to be repeated; it was more than sufficient to atone for the sins of all mankind. No more blood of bulls and lambs. The blood of the Spotless Lamb was sacrificed once and for all. Our Great High Priest sprinkled the altar once and for all with the blood of the pure sacrifice. “It is finished!” The work of atonement is done.

On God Authority
By Julie B Cosgrove | Comments Off
So Jesus said to them, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and that I do nothing on my own authority, but speak just as the Father taught me. John 8:28
Are you one to bite your tongue, swallow down your thoughts and never make a comment? OR do you have foot-in-mouth disease? Do you always wish after the fact you had not blurted out and spoken your mind so hastily? How many bruised feelings and heartaches are caused when we open our mouths before engaging, not only our brains, but our prayers? My times scroll across my heart just thinking about it. You,too?

Limitless Boundless Power
By Jan Ross | Comments Off
All that has ever existed, all that exists today, and all that will ever exist comes from the Lord … they were, are, and will be made BY Him and FOR Him. Can your imagination imagine it? Can your understanding understand it? What an awesome God we serve! What a mighty God we serve! What a powerful God we serve!
“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him“ (Colossians 1:16)

The Potter’s House
By Jan Ross | Comments Off
From the moment I was put into my parent’s arms, they intended to make sure I grew to understand the importance of serving God. As a result, I’ve lived a life of worship and service as long as I can remember. As a family, my husband and I made sure our children were given the same opportunity I had as a child. Our goal was to teach them that serving God doesn’t depend on anything except their personal heart response to the Holy Spirit at work in them—in all of us.

Speak Openly
By Julie B Cosgrove | 1 Comment
And there was much muttering about him [Jesus] among the people. While some said, “He is a good man,” others said, “No, he is leading the people astray.” Yet for fear of the Jews no one spoke openly of him. John 7:12-13
Are you afraid to speak openly about Jesus for fear you may be shunned? Are you concerned that people will back off, roll their eyes or tune you out? During my parent’s post World War II era, Christianity was the norm. Stores were closed on Sundays. Everyone went to church. Norman Rockwell painted people praying Grace over a meal for the cover of LIFE magazine. The Principal, over the intercom, began each day of school with a prayer and the Pledge.

Consider the Hill
By Jan Ross | Comments Off
ll too often we forget the very foundation of our salvation … the cross. We focus on the gory scene each year as we prepare to celebrate Christ’s resurrection. But, how many of us turn our eyes toward the cross of Calvary daily, considering the great price paid for our redemption?
Let’s take a moment to consider the hill called Mt. Calvary.
“And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.” (Luke 23:33)
